1982: Construction at Shepperton 'A' stage during 'Pirates of Penzance', the first film I worked on. Starring with the very wonderful Angela Lansbury was Linda Ronstadt and the realively unknown Rex Smith and Kevin Kline. They said Rex Smith would be a huge star out of it, but Kline stole the show as the Pirate King. Wilford Leach directed and Douggie Slocombe was DP.
